US Airstrike Kills Iranian General Qassem Soleimani

On January 3, a US airstrike resulted in the death of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran. The strike occurred near Baghdad International Airport, where powerful explosions were heard in the vicinity of American military bases.

The attack was ordered by President Donald Trump. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has vowed that "Iran and other countries in the region will take revenge on America."
