Seven Judges of the Constitutional Court Issue a Statement
Seven members of the Constitutional Court have issued a statement urging that strict adherence to the constitutional law's requirements be maintained when taking actions against the President of the Constitutional Court, Hrant Tovmasyan, within the framework of a criminal proceeding.
The statement reads: "Article 9 of the constitutional law on the 'Constitutional Court' titled 'The Inviolability of a Constitutional Court Judge' also establishes the requirements for actions taken against a judge in the context of a criminal proceeding. These actions must be conducted with the utmost protection of the confidentiality of pre-trial proceedings, with respect for the authority and independence of the judge and the judicial power, while excluding any direct or indirect interference in the judge's activities."
We urge the competent authorities to strictly adhere to the aforementioned requirements of constitutional law when taking actions against the President of the Constitutional Court, Hrant Tovmasyan, within the framework of a criminal proceeding.
Regardless of the situation, we continue to operate as usual, remaining faithful to the high title of a Constitutional Court judge, ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution, and acting independently and impartially.
