The Defense Army on the Incident of Throwing a Soldier's Parcel Out of a Barracks Window

On December 26, various news outlets reported that the commander of a division of the Defense Army threw food sent by the parents of conscript soldiers out of a second-floor window. It is important to note that prior to this publication, a service investigation was immediately initiated to verify the authenticity of the incident, which clarified all circumstances surrounding the event.

The regulations for sending parcels to soldiers are established by the order of the commander of the Defense Army. Considering the need to ensure military service security and protect the health of soldiers, certain items and foods are prohibited from being delivered to the barracks, including perishable food items and alcoholic beverages.

The division commander, upon discovering that, despite his previous numerous warnings, there were alcoholic drinks and spoiled food in the parcels sent to the soldiers, displayed undue impetuosity and, instead of properly disposing of the prohibited items, threw them out of the window.

In light of the inappropriate behavior demonstrated by the division commander regarding the incident, he has been disciplined by the decision of the battalion commander. The Defense Army command has issued appropriate instructions to all subordinate commanders to prevent such incidents in the future and requests the public's understanding.
