Snow Falling in Several Regions; Lars Closed
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of December 27 at 14:00, the roadways in Armenia are mostly passable. The Vardenyats Pass is open for trucks only if tire chains are used.
Snowfall is occurring in the towns of Aparan in the Aragatsotn Province, Jermuk in the Vayots Dzor Province, in the village of Yelpin, and at the Vardenyats Pass.
According to information received from the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Emergencies of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepanavan-Mind-Lars roadway is closed to all types of vehicles.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires. Construction work is ongoing on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Bagratashen highway, and due to this work, the section is closed to trucks. An alternative route has been established via the Dilijan-Noyemberyan-Bagratashen road.
