Naira Zohrabyan: "I agree with Pashinyan on this issue, we have a problem of changing the 'khuchik' subculture"

Member of the National Assembly from the Prosperous Armenia faction and chairperson of the permanent committee on human rights and public affairs, Naira Zohrabyan, wrote on her Facebook page:

“What street subculture does this commander come from? The commander of the N military unit of the Defense Army of Artsakh has thrown away the New Year packages sent by soldiers’ parents out of the unit's window. Yesterday, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with the relatives of the fallen soldier Arthur Ajamyan, who died 24 days ago, and when Arthur's grandfather said they are demonstrating to ensure that such incidents do not recur, the Prime Minister responded, ‘When you say it should not happen again, it’s because our kids continue to live by criminal values on the streets.’ I agree with Pashinyan on this issue, because when you see what themes in the army lead to murder or suicide, it is clear that we have a problem of changing this ‘khuchik’ subculture.

Now, the commander of the N military unit, who has thrown the New Year package sent by a soldier’s parent on the ground, what kind of street culture does he represent? Does anyone imagine the psychological state of the soldier when he sees his commander throwing out the package sent by his mother? Does anyone understand the bitterness accumulating in the hearts of the soldier and his parent? Parents have always sent packages; commanders have taken the alcohol out and passed the rest to the soldier. Until such ‘bespredel’ commanders understand that the military unit is not their personal estate and the soldier is not their slave, we will unfortunately continue to face the ‘khuchik’ subculture and its tragic consequences.”
