Libya Requests Military Assistance from Turkey
The Government of National Accord of Libya has officially requested military assistance from Turkey, stating the need for support "from air, land, and sea." This was reported by Reuters, citing a government representative in Tripoli.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey announced during a meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party that a bill to send military assistance to Libya will be brought to the agenda as soon as the parliament resumes its work.
He noted that the basis for sending troops to Libya is the "Memorandum of Understanding on Security and Military Cooperation," which was recently signed between Turkey and the Government of National Accord of Libya, led by Fayez al-Sarraj.
