Hrayr Tovmasyan Being Questioned at the Constitutional Court

The President of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, Hrayr Tovmasyan, is currently being questioned at the Court. It is noteworthy that a protest supporting Tovmasyan is taking place outside the court simultaneously.

His lawyer, Amram Makinyan, responded to our inquiry yesterday, stating that the procedure for questioning the President of the Constitutional Court is being followed.

Recall that media reported yesterday that investigators from the Special Investigative Service had gone to the Constitutional Court, though the purpose of their visit remains unclear. Amram Makinyan did not wish to comment on this issue during our conversation, stating that he would discuss the details later.

Hrayr Tovmasyan is apparently being questioned in connection with a criminal case initiated based on a report by MP Arman Babajanyan, which alleges that a group of officials has misappropriated state power. Tovmasyan's name is also mentioned in relation this case.
