Forbes: Who Are Russia's Most Successful Billionaires
One of the main shareholders of "Norilsk Nickel," Vladimir Potanin, topped the list of Russia's most successful billionaires according to Forbes magazine in 2019. According to the publication's estimates, Potanin increased his wealth by more than one third during the year. As of December 24, the billionaire's fortune was estimated at $23.8 billion.
In second place is Leonid Mikhelson, head of "Novatek," whose wealth increased by $5.9 billion over the year, reaching $27 billion. Rounding out the top three is Vagit Alekperov, president of "Lukoil," whose fortune grew by $5.3 billion to $23.8 billion.
The fourth position in the ranking is held by Gennady Timchenko, shareholder of "Novatek" and "Sibur." His wealth increased by $4.1 billion, totaling $22.7 billion. Alexey Mordashov, the main owner of "Severstal," took the last spot in the ranking, with an increase of $3.8 billion over the year. As of December 24, his fortune was estimated at $20.2 billion.
