Criminal Case Initiated Over Samvel Uzunyan's Boundary Crossing

A criminal case has been initiated concerning the crossing of the Armenian state border by former judge Samvel Uzunyan under Article 315, Part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code (negligence by officials).

This information was provided to 'Armenian Time' by Advisor to the Prosecutor General Gor Abrahamyan.

"In light of measures taken to prevent the potential exit of Samvel Uzunyan, the former president of the trial court of Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts, through the 'Zvartnots' border crossing, a criminal case has been opened based on negligence characteristics by public officials under Article 315, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, and it has been accepted into the proceedings of the RA Investigative Committee," Abrahamyan noted.

It is noteworthy that on December 21, the Supreme Judicial Council consented to initiating criminal prosecution against Samvel Uzunyan and his deprivation of liberty. On December 23, it became known that Judge Uzunyan had been involved as a suspect, and he was placed on the wanted list after he crossed the border on the very day the court made its decision to detain him.

Additionally, it was reported that a bullet was found in Uzunyan's suitcase, prompting an official investigation.
