Beneficiaries Will Continue to Receive Support for 6 Months After Starting Work, Says Batoyan
In Armenia, a working-age member of a family receiving family or social benefits will continue to receive support for six months after they become employed. This decision was made during the government meeting today.
“The state will offer job opportunities to working members of benefit-receiving families, and benefits will still be provided to them for six months after they are employed. The law will come into effect on April 1, 2020,” said Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan during the meeting.
She also mentioned that if a beneficiary declines the government's job offers twice, they will no longer receive benefits. According to Batoyan, going forward, the determination of whether or not to provide benefits will also take into account the individual's credit history; that is, if a person pays off a loan of 100,000 drams monthly, they should not be included in the list of beneficiaries.
It is noteworthy that in 2019, the average monthly number of beneficiaries was 99,900, of which 26,799 were families receiving social benefits, while the number of families receiving benefits with children was 73,101. A budget of 37.7 billion drams has been allocated for benefits in 2019.
