Turkish Store Closed in Iraqi Kurdistan Due to Christian Cross Depiction on Shoes

The branch of the Turkish-produced "FLO" shoe store in Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, has been closed on charges of insulting and humiliating religious beliefs. This was reported by Ermenihaber.am.

It has been noted that in the "Mega Mall" shopping center in Erbil, women's shoes were sold that had a cross symbol underneath them, which was perceived as an affront to Christianity.

Ziya Petros, the head of the Human Rights Commission, stated in an interview with the Kurdish newspaper "Rûdaw" that a report of the crime has been filed with the Erbil provincial administration regarding this incident. According to him, after reviewing the complaint, the Erbil provincial administration decided to close the "FLO" shoe store.

“We received numerous complaints regarding the incident. We visited the store. After examining the shoes, we confirmed the issue. I also requested one pair of the same model, and I saw it on other shoes in the store,” Petros said.
