Syrian Army Encircles Turkish Observation Post in Idlib
The Syrian government army continues its offensive towards Idlib province, which is under the control of the former "Al-Nusra" terrorist group, now renamed as "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham," and other armed groups.
According to Turkish news outlet "Diken," citing "Reuters," the Syrian army is being supported by Russian air forces and Iranian units, as reported by ermenihaber.
The report states that the Syrian army has made significant advancements, resulting in one of the observation posts established by Turkey in Idlib being completely encircled by government forces. This observation post is located near the village of Surman, not far from the town of Maaret al-Numan in Idlib province.
It is also indicated that as a result of the armed clashes taking place within the framework of the operation aimed at liberating the province from terrorists, thousands of civilians are moving toward the neighboring Turkish border.
Let us recall that in 2017, an agreement was reached between Turkey and Russia in Sochi to establish a demilitarized zone in Idlib. Within this framework, the armed groups under Turkish control in the province were supposed to withdraw their heavy military equipment, tanks, multiple rocket launcher systems, weapons, and mortars. To oversee all of this, the Turkish armed forces had established 12 observation posts in various parts of Idlib.
