Robert Kocharian Sends Message on Supporters' Gathering

Today, a gathering of President Robert Kocharian's supporters was held, during which his son, Levon Kocharian, read a message from the president addressed to his supporters, which we present below:

“Dear friends,
I greet you and today's event. First of all, I want to express my gratitude to you for your clear stance, civic courage, and simply put, your manhood. Thank you. It is people like you who have forged the modern and heroic history of Armenia and Artsakh, thanks to your bravery and integrity.

Just a year ago, it was unimaginable that the call to 'Unite' would regain political significance and relevance in our country. If three decades ago it was a call for the unification of the divided segments of the Armenian people, today that call unites those fighting against apathy, legal lawlessness, historical distortion, and personal despotism. I regret that there is such a parallel, but that is the truth.

Today, I would like to take this opportunity to also express my gratitude to all those who signed the famous 'hundred declaration.' The participation of tens of thousands of people is an obligation and compels me to fight with double vigor and not to back down in the face of any difficulties. I want you to know: I perceive the prison cell as an office where I work for a better future for Armenia. A future where our national values and our identity are respected, where we will live without deceit and lies, without shameless populism, living with dignity.

We will develop without compromising our greatest and most significant national achievement—our Victory.

Dear friends,
I am confident that the newly formed Freedom Committee can become the organization that unites not only those fighting for one person's freedom but everyone who cherishes a secure and prosperous future for Armenia and Artsakh. A new phase of political struggle is beginning, and I wish us all success in that struggle. I am convinced that everything will be fine.
