Investigator Files Motion for Armenian TV Owner's Arrest: Armen Tavadyan's Lawyer
The Central and Nor Nork Administrative Court of Yerevan has completed the examination of the appeal against the arrest of Armen Tavadyan, the owner of the '5th Channel' television station. This was stated by Tavadyan's lawyer, Hovhannes Khudoyan, during a conversation with reporters today, December 25, as reported by News.am.
The lawyer also revealed that the investigator from the Special Investigative Service has filed a motion for detention: “At the moment of examining the appeal against the arrest, the investigator from the SIS presented a request to choose detention as a preventive measure. According to our legislation, these two matters should be examined in one process. We have exhausted the first appeal procedure, had discussions regarding the arrest, and now the examination of the case will continue tomorrow at 11 am concerning the motion for detention. We have requested the court for time to familiarize ourselves with the materials and understand what justifications have been presented so that we can argue against them.”
