Investigation Concludes into Inmate's Hospital Escape from Nubarashen Penitentiary
The investigation into the case of an inmate's escape from a hospital while on treatment, who was incarcerated at the Nubarashen Penitentiary, has concluded in the investigative department of the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan, under the Armenian Investigative Committee.
According to the information gathered during the investigation, the inmate, born in 1974, was facing charges in three criminal cases at the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction. While being detained as a measure of restraint, he was transferred on February 11, 2019, from the Nubarashen Penitentiary to the cardiology department of Armenia Medical Center for treatment. Under the supervision of security personnel, he attempted to escape at approximately 15:35 on February 18, 2019.
Based on sufficient evidence obtained, the inmate has been charged under the first part of Article 355 of the RA Criminal Code for his escape. A notification has been issued regarding the conclusion of the investigation, and the criminal case, along with a request for approval of the accusatory conclusion, has been sent to the prosecutor overseeing the legality of the investigation.
