Hong Kong Police Use Tear Gas Against Protesters
On the evening of October 25, Hong Kong police deployed tear gas in the Mong Kok and Sha Tin districts to disperse anti-government protests. This was reported by RTHK, the radio and television broadcasting corporation.
Protesters took to the streets and gathered in shopping centers even as early as Christmas Eve, organizing numerous marches, causing extensive damage to shops, and engaging in arson. Participants in the demonstrations have been blocking roads, smashing traffic lights, attacking passersby, and throwing incendiary bottles at police officers.
In turn, protesters accuse the police of brutal treatment and using excessive force to disperse the demonstrators.
