Narek Sargsyan 'Franklin Gonzales' Arrested
The Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction has approved the motion to confirm the arrest of Narek Sargsyan, the nephew of the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan. This was announced by the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
Previously, a motion had been submitted to the court regarding the confirmation of Narek Sargsyan's arrest as a measure of restraint. It is noteworthy that on December 21, Narek Sargsyan was transferred from the Czech Republic to Armenia with the assistance of police officers.
A criminal case was initiated on June 26, 2018, by the National Security Service of Armenia based on various charges, including illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation, or possession of weapons, ammunition, explosives, as well as the illegal circulation of narcotic substances and psychotropic materials.
On July 6, 2018, a search warrant was issued for Narek Sargsyan, and on July 24, an international search warrant was declared. Various units of the police, along with the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Armenia and law enforcement agencies from several European countries, successfully conducted extensive operational and investigative measures, leading to the discovery of Narek Aleksandri Sargsyan on December 6 in Prague, who was wanted internationally.
The investigation into the initiated criminal case continues. He is accused under the criminal case initiated with the NSS in June 2018, regarding the illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation, or possession of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and the illegal circulation of narcotic substances and psychotropic materials.
