Court Rejects Manvel Grigoryan's Defenders' 14th Motion

The Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan has rejected for the 14th time the two motions presented by the defenders of former Head of the Yerevan City Council Manvel Grigoryan. Due to health issues, Manvel Grigoryan was once again absent from the court hearing.

The defenders submitted two motions: the first was a request for collateral on 1 billion 336 million 760 thousand drams, covering 25 units of real estate, and the second was a request for signature release.

The next court session for Manvel Grigoryan's case has been scheduled for January 21, 2020, at 14:00.

It has been previously reported that Manvel Grigoryan's case has been separated from that of his wife, Nazik Amiryan. Grigoryan's lawyers appealed to the Court of Appeal against Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan's decision of November 5, which denied the motion to replace the arrest imposed on Manvel Grigoryan with collateral. The Court of Appeal rejected the defenders' appeal on December 17.

Manvel Grigoryan is accused of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, embezzling property worth more than 101 million drams, evading over 1 billion drams in taxes, misusing more than 1 billion drams of state funds, and organizing the theft of property worth 37 million drams through extortion.
