Arshak Jerjeryan, Accused of Illegal Adoption of Children by Foreigners, Released on Bail

Arshak Jerjeryan, the deputy director of the Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics, and Gynecology, who is involved in the case of illegal adoptions of children by foreigners, has been released on bail for 5 million drams.

This was confirmed by the public relations department of the prosecutor's office in response to a question from Hetq.

It should be noted that earlier, Hetq reported on the decisions of the courts regarding the three other defendants in the case, Anush Garsantsyan and Liana Karapetyan, regarding the application of bail, as well as the rejection of the motion to detain Razmik Abrahamyan, the director of the Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics, and Gynecology.

All of them, along with Jerjeryan, were arrested on December 19, following which motions were submitted to the court for their detention.

It appears that, despite the Investigative Committee identifying grounds and conditions for the detention of the aforementioned four defendants, none of them has been detained.

The case involving Jerjeryan, Abrahamyan, Karapetyan, and Garsantsyan was initiated in the NSS with regard to the sale of a child for the purpose of adopting or handing over to the care of a buyer, disclosure of adoption secrets, coercing to provide consent for adoption, offering bribes, and abuse of authority by employees of commercial or other organizations, as well as cases of exceeding official powers, and the proceedings were then transferred to the Investigative Committee.
