Criminal Case Launched Against Armenian MP Henzel Mkoyan in Georgian Parliament

According to the newspaper "Zhamanak," law enforcement agencies in Georgia have launched a criminal case against Henzel Mkoyan, a member of the Georgian Parliament. Mkoyan is a representative of the ruling "Georgian Dream" party and one of the members elected through the majority electoral system who voted against the legislative initiative to conduct parliamentary elections next year solely through a proportional system.

Mkoyan has consistently funded the ruling party's campaigns and candidates. During the last presidential elections, he transferred 140,000 lari—over $50,000—to the pre-election fund of the ruling candidate Salome Zurabishvili. It is now more than surprising that a parliamentarian who has served the government politically and financially is accused of unfairly winning a tender for gasoline supply. Should these services not have a price?
