Cultural Figures Demand Release of Robert Kocharyan

A few moments ago, we reported that a number of cultural figures are demanding the release of second president Robert Kocharyan.

Auroranews contacted actor Guzh Manukyan, whose name was also included in this list. In our conversation, the actor elaborated: “I have been approached and told that there is such a list; they asked if my name could be included. I said that if there is a need to mention names, they can mention mine. There are more prominent figures who can make such a demand; I do not meddle in politics and am not familiar with the processes to make such a request.”

Auroranews also reached out to Erik Karapetian, Avet Barseghyan, and Alla Levonian to clarify the authenticity of the news and how much they consider it appropriate to mix culture and politics. The latter stated that they would not comment on the news.

In our conversation, the director of the Berd dance ensemble labeled the news as disgraceful, noting that they would deny that the artistic director of the honored collective “Berd” dance ensemble has joined this demand.
