Charges Filed Against the Head of Kasaq Community
Charges have been brought against the head of the Kasaq community for abuse of official power, illicit transition, and official forgery.
In the ongoing criminal case investigated by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia in the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts, allegations have been made against the head of the Kasaq community for abusing official powers, illicit transition, and official forgery. The investigation and other procedural actions have revealed that from October to November 2003, the head of the Kasaq community in Kotayk province misused his official position, intending to lease and subsequently transfer a land area of 11.6 hectares laden with cemeteries in the community, knowing that such a result could not be achieved due to the presence of cemeteries. He misrepresented the land as agricultural pasture, created official documents containing false information, and leased it to a fellow villager. In 2004, he entered into a sales agreement with the same individual and sold the mentioned land area for 783,000 AMD, thereby causing significant harm to the legal interests of society and the state.
Based on adequate evidence obtained, the head of the Kasaq community has been charged under the first part of Article 308, the first part of Article 309, and Article 314 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. A signature not to leave has been chosen as a preventive measure against him. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Notice: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia by a legally binding court ruling.
