Manvel Grigoryan Not to Be Released on Bail
Former MP and former head of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union Manvel Grigoryan will not be released on bail.
The Court of Appeal, presided over by Judge Narine Hovakimyan, issued this decision moments ago, thereby rejecting the appeal filed by Grigoryan's lawyers against the decision of the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court not to release him on bail.
The defense had contested the November 5 decision of Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan, which denied their motion to replace Grigoryan's detention with bail.
At the same time, the court rejected the defense’s motion to remove prosecuting attorney Vahe Dolmazian from the proceedings. After reviewing the grounds for the removal request, the presiding judge stated: “Having examined the removal request and heard the objections against it, I, Judge Narine Hovakimyan, have concluded that the request must be rejected, without addressing its merits, as within the scope of this appeal, the court is authorized only to verify the grounds and legality of the contested judicial act and is not acting as a criminal proceeding authority, therefore it is not competent to resolve the issue of the prosecutor's removal.”
