VIDEO: Police Uncovers Misconduct by Senior Inspector of the Permitting System

The police have announced that, as a result of cooperation between the Police and the National Security Service, misconduct by a police officer has been uncovered.

Based on the information, an investigation conducted by the internal security department of the police has yielded factual data indicating that the senior inspector of the permitting system at the Central Police Department organized the processes of extending the validity of permits for storing and carrying weapons registered in the names of citizens, as well as registering weapons in the names of other individuals, without adhering to the proper procedures, thus engaging in illegal transactions.

It has also been revealed that a police major unlawfully extended the validity of permits for citizens who were absent from Armenia to store and carry weapons. Additionally, he sometimes acquired medical documents on behalf of citizens.

Thus, as a result of operational-investigative measures and a departmental inquiry, factual data regarding apparent crimes of bribery and document forgery have been obtained. The materials from the departmental inquiry have been sent to the Special Investigative Service.
