VIDEO: Armenian Driving Licenses Issued Based on Fake Driver's Licenses

The Internal Security Department of the Police has received operational information indicating that officers from the Traffic Police's registration and investigative divisions are issuing Armenian sample driver's licenses based on fake Russian sample licenses without any verification. This information has been reported on the official website of the police.

In this regard, the Internal Security Department of the Police has conducted investigations, during which the Traffic Police provided the bases for non-national driver's licenses issued between January 1, 2019, and May 23, 2019. An analysis of these documents revealed that during this period, Armenian sample driver's licenses were issued based on 84 Russian sample driver's licenses.

Through the measures taken, it was found that of the 84 driver's licenses, 3 had not been issued by the Russian police, and the presented fake driver's licenses had been used to grant individuals Armenian sample driver's licenses.

The materials of the investigation have been sent to the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia for a legal assessment regarding the acquisition and use of potentially fake driver's licenses by 3 citizens, as well as the circumstances surrounding their replacement with Armenian sample driver's licenses.

Criminal cases have been initiated on December 10 under the attributes of Article 325, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. An investigation is underway.
