VIDEO: Man Extorts 3 Million Dram in Gold and Nearly 11 Million Dram from Woman with Threats of Publishing Intimate Footage

On December 4, a woman reported to the Charentsavan police that she had met a man from Hrazdan through social media and later entered into an intimate relationship with him. Subsequently, the man demanded and received gold jewelry worth a total of 3,000,000 drams and more than 9 million 660 thousand drams by threatening to release damaging information about the woman and to commit violence against her children.

Recently, he also demanded another 1,700,000 drams using the same threats. As a result of an operational-investigative measure conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division of the Police’s Central Criminal Investigation Department, together with the Kotayk Regional Police and Charentsavan Division, the Hrazdan resident was caught red-handed while receiving the demanded 1,700,000 drams and was taken into custody.

The man has been presented to the body conducting the preliminary investigation and has been arrested. The extorted money has been recovered. Circumstances of the case are being clarified.
