Identity of Tortured Victim in Controversial Video Revealed, He Has Been Questioned

The identity of the victim tortured in a controversial video published on the internet a few weeks ago has been revealed. This information was confirmed in an interview with Marina Ohanyan, the spokesperson for the Special Investigative Committee of Armenia.

She also noted that the time period of the incident has been established, but other details were not disclosed due to the interests of the preliminary investigation.

According to our information, the victim, who was tortured by police officers, has already been questioned within the framework of the criminal case. He is currently serving a sentence for another case in one of the correctional facilities.

It is worth reminding that the identities of the three police officers visible in the video had previously been disclosed, two of whom were former servicemen. Analysis of factual data revealed that the recording was made approximately ten years ago.

A criminal case has been initiated in the Special Investigative Service of Armenia for the incident depicted in the video titled "Controversial Video: Homeland Police Obtaining Testimonies Under Batons and Gas Masks" under Article 309, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code, which involves abuse of official power accompanied by violence.

During the internal investigation being conducted by the police's internal security department, a police officer has been summoned to the department.

By the order of the Acting Police Chief, the powers of Narek Simonyan, the head of the Jambarak Police Department, have been temporarily suspended.
