Video: Police Release Footage of the Arrest of Tax Officials

On December 6, the Main Division for the Fight Against Organized Crime of the Armenian Police, along with the State Revenue Committee (SRC) officers, conducted a complex operational-investigative action at the Gogavan border checkpoint, during which a group of officials was detained and arrested.

The Police Public Relations Department informs that, as part of a criminal case initiated in the SRC's investigative department under several articles of the Criminal Code, factual data has been obtained indicating that a group of officials at the Gogavan-Privalnoye customs checkpoint of the SRC committed illegal acts.

In particular, they misused their official position to the detriment of service interests and failed to conduct proper customs supervision over various goods imported into Armenia by several individuals in 2019, causing significant damage to the state's interests. Additionally, there is factual data indicating that these officials periodically received bribes ranging from $200 to $350 in exchange for their illegal actions.

As part of the initiated criminal case, searches were conducted at the residences and vehicles of the detained individuals, resulting in the discovery and seizure of items and documents of evidential significance concerning the criminal case. Other citizens related to this case have also been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
