VIDEO: Attempt to Withdraw Cash with Stolen Bank Card
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is taking measures to identify an individual suspected of significant property theft, attempted theft from an ATM, and document theft, within the framework of a criminal case being examined by the Shengavit Investigative Division of Yerevan.
According to preliminary data, on October 4, 2019, a resident of Yerevan reported to the Nor Nork Division of the police that between 21:00 and 21:15 on October 3, 2019, an unidentified individual, with the intention of secretly stealing someone else's property, took advantage of the open doors of a vehicle and stole a bag belonging to him from a friend's car parked in the village of Zovuni, Kotayk province. The bag contained a wallet, personal passport, cash, and a bank card, causing significant property damage.
Later that same day, at 21:48, it was reported that an attempt was made to withdraw cash from an ATM located on Bagratunyats Avenue in Yerevan using the stolen bank card. Consequently, a criminal case was initiated at the Shengavit Division of the Yerevan Police under Article 177, Part 2, Point 3 of the RA Criminal Code, Article 34-177, Part 2, Point 3, and Article 324, Part 1 (2 episodes), and the case was forwarded to the Shengavit Investigative Division of the RA Investigative Committee.
During the pre-trial investigation, security camera footage from the ATM was obtained and examined, showing the individual committing the apparent crime. In order to ensure a comprehensive, objective, and thorough investigation into the criminal case, measures are being taken to locate the person who committed the apparent crime.
