Circumstances of Injuring 62-Year-Old Man Revealed, Criminal Case Initiated

The Investigation Committee of Armenia is conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the intentional severe injury inflicted on a 62-year-old man during a dispute.

On November 26, at 12:20 PM, the medical center "Aramavir" reported that a resident born in 1957 from the Aramavir region sought medical assistance for a diagnosis of "open comminuted fracture of both bones of the left leg with a bone defect," stating that he sustained the injury while working on his land.

Preliminary data suggests that around 12:00 PM on the same day, a dispute occurred in a field on the right side of the road leading from Arevik village to Alashkert village between the 62-year-old resident of Aramavir region and a 45-year-old fellow villager, during which the latter shot at the man's leg with a 5.45 mm caliber automatic rifle of the "AK 74" type, causing the injury.

Furthermore, information has emerged indicating that the supporters of the disputants also began arguing after arriving at the scene. At the same time, it was determined that the supporters of the injured party used batons to break the front and side windows of an "Opel" vehicle present at the scene, causing property damage to the owner.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Investigation Committee of Armenia under Article 112, Part 1, Article 235, Part 1, and Article 185, Part 1 of the Criminal Code. The 62-year-old man has been recognized as the victim.

A crime scene examination was conducted, during which two fired cartridges of 5.45 mm caliber, one bullet, broken sticks, shattered glass from the vehicle, and traces of blood were found. Samples have been collected, and the clothing worn by the victim at the time of the incident has been seized.

A forensic medical examination and a forensic ballistic examination have been appointed to determine the nature of the victim's injury, the degree of severity, the mechanism of occurrence, and several other circumstances.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to identify the complete circle of participants, individualize their actions, provide legal assessment, locate persons involved in the dispute, and recover the firearm. Instructions have been given to the investigative body.
