Illegal Drug Trafficking Case Revealed
As a result of the necessary investigative and procedural actions carried out by the Investigative Division of the Yerevan city Investigative Committee in the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts, several circumstances surrounding the illegal trafficking of drugs have been clarified. One individual has been charged in connection with the case. This information is reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
According to a report submitted by the officers of the RA Police Anti-Drug Unit on November 18, 2019, on the same day at 17:45, a citizen suspected of illegally acquiring, possessing, and using drugs was brought to the Mashtots Police Department from the intersection of Halabyan and Arzumanyan streets in Yerevan. During a personal search, one capsule labeled 'LYRICA 300mg' was discovered in the individual's right sock.
Through operational investigative measures, it was established that the individual purchased the mentioned capsule from a pharmacy in Yerevan. The conclusion of the assigned forensic chemical examination stated that the white powdery substance weighing 0.398 grams contained within the capsule is a psychotropic substance of the 'Pregabalin' type. A search was conducted at the pharmacy, resulting in the seizure of 56 capsules labeled 'LYRICA 300mg.'
A criminal case has been initiated at the investigative department of the Mashtots Police based on Article 266, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code, with the investigation being carried out by the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative district investigative divisions of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. A forensic chemical examination has been appointed, which confirmed that a total of 56 capsules in 4 harmless blisters contained the psychotropic substance 'Pregabalin.'
Through the necessary measures taken, the identity of the person from whom the pharmacy director acquired the 'Lyrica' drug was determined; this individual is a resident of Yerevan, born in 1975. It was also revealed that 'Lyrica' tablets were sold by a pharmacy employee as well.
With the combination of sufficient evidence, a charge has been brought against the 44-year-old Yerevan resident under Article 266, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code (2 episodes). A petition has been submitted to the court for detention as a measure of restraint, which has been granted. The pharmacy director and the employee have been involved as suspects, and a precautionary measure of not leaving has been applied to them.
The investigation continues. Necessary measures are being undertaken to ensure a comprehensive, objective, and complete examination of the circumstances of the case.
