Gunfire in Erebuni Administrative District: Circumstances Being Clarified

The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an investigation in the Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts to clarify all circumstances related to three incidents of gunfire that occurred in the Erebuni community. This information was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

According to preliminary data, on November 10, 2019, around 3:00 PM, shots were fired towards a workshop located on Burunazyan Street in Yerevan, damaging one of the double-glazed windows and the wall-mounted camera.

A criminal case has been initiated in the Erebuni police department under Article 235, Part 1, and Article 258, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which has been forwarded to the Investigative Division of the Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts for further investigation.

Furthermore, information has also been received regarding gunfire directed at an apartment on the first floor of a building on Tigran Mets Avenue during the night of November 14-15, 2019, and in the direction of an office on Tigran Mets Avenue around 00:30 on November 21, 2019.

Criminal cases have also been initiated in the police concerning these incidents under Article 258, Part 2, and Article 235, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, and these cases are also being investigated by the Erebuni and Nubarashen investigative authorities.

As a result of operational and investigative measures undertaken, data has been obtained regarding the identities of several individuals allegedly organizing and participating in the armed incidents, as well as information indicating that they may possess weapons and ammunition at their residences.

Given the factual circumstances of the initiated criminal cases, and the need to ensure a comprehensive, thorough, and objective investigation, a decision was made to consolidate the aforementioned three criminal cases into one proceeding and to conduct a joint investigation. An investigative plan has been developed, and working hypotheses have been proposed.

During the investigation, the crime scenes have been examined, revealing firearm damage on objects found, and four fragments of fired bullets, a damaged recording device, remains of fired bullets, and 25 fired cartridges of 5/39 caliber have been identified and seized. Additionally, a Toyota Corolla vehicle with gunshot damage has also been found.

To clarify significant circumstances for the criminal case, forensic and forensic-chemical examinations, as well as a complex forensic examination, have been appointed. The investigation is ongoing. Necessary measures are being undertaken in conjunction with relevant police units to clarify all circumstances, identify individuals involved in the incidents, and present them to the investigative authority.
