We Will Not Succumb to Provocations: Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine Statement

The Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine has issued a statement clarifying that “yet another piece of misinformation” has been spread about the company.

“On November 6, 2019, the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine sent a demand for retraction to Arajyughu LLC, Skizb Media Center LLC, and journalist Gohar Hayrapetyan regarding defamatory information disseminated by the latter in the context of a video published on November 4, 2019, on the website www.1in.am, which does not correspond to reality and relates to the actions of the company and its shareholders.

By utilizing this legal means of protecting rights, it was expected that individuals engaged in journalism, well aware of their obligations, would notify the company about the timing of the retraction within a week after receiving the demand or would provide written notification that the dissemination of the retraction is being refused.

Instead of fulfilling the legal obligation, the same individuals spread information that is absolutely untrue, claiming that Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine has filed a lawsuit against G. Hayrapetyan for their statements and targeted the ‘1st’ news outlet (to verify, we suggest using the official court information system datalex.am).

This misinformation has become a subject of discussion across various platforms, receiving various assessments and being interpreted through the delusions and worries of different “concerned” subjects, depicting the use of legally established and guaranteed methods of rights protection as targeting, repression, or attempts to silence.

We warn all those attempting to tarnish the business reputation of Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine through similar exploitations, defamations, and mucks that we will continue to operate strictly within the framework established by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia. We will not succumb to provocations and will utilize all legally permitted and guaranteed means and methods at our discretion to protect the rights and legitimate interests of our company, the rights and dignity of our large workforce, who create benefits with their daily hard work.

Simultaneously, we inform those who confuse recklessness, cynicism, and ignorance with the constitutional right to free expression of opinion that the freedom to disseminate information and ideas declared by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia is not absolute and has specific limits on its realization; it ends where the fundamental rights and legitimate interests of others begin,” the company stated in its clarification.
