Video: 6th Division of the Police Visits Sarhat Petrosyan's Home
Former head of the Cadastre Committee Sarhat Petrosyan spoke to newarmenia.am about the visit of employees from the "6th Division" to his home.
"I have sincerely believed and still believe that our revolution was also a value-based revolution, and for me, as someone who has fought for years in my field, it was a very important and even emotional decision to accept the Prime Minister’s offer to join the government team. Yet, I could not betray my highly sacred profession. All these issues that I talk about, I have raised multiple times in various formats both before the revolution and after it as a public official, and now in the public sector. I have consciously gone into my statements knowing that they can be contested in court, that any employee of the police could come and disrupt my family’s peace, which is exactly what the 6th Division did today in following up on my statement. I understand this, but I firmly believe we need to talk about problems," said Petrosyan.
When asked by a journalist what the 6th Division was looking for at his home, Petrosyan replied, "An organization had made a statement saying that there are punishable actions in Sarhat Petrosyan's statement. It is logical and normal that they came. I was not home, but my children and my family experienced stress. That is not what is important; my friends and colleagues from different generations give me strength that I can pass on to my family. We have all faced stress both in 2018 and now, but I am ready to go through anything to have the Armenia we dreamed of. I am prepared to realize the values I envisioned at the foundation of the revolution in my field. At no point did I think that the processes that started in 2018 would be reversed or that we could tolerate processes reminiscent of corruption in the country. And behind every word I have voiced, there are facts."
