The Court of Appeals Accepts the Appeal of R. Kocharyan's Defenders
The Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Mikitar Papoyan, has accepted the appeal of the defenders of Robert Kocharyan against the November 7 decision to not release him on bail in the March 1 case.
A court session for the case has been scheduled for November 26. It is worth noting that a court session for Robert Kocharyan and others is also scheduled for the same day.
Recall that on November 7, Judge Anna Danibekyan of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction decided to reject the defense's motion for bail, based on the October 15 decision of the Constitutional Court, SDO-1480. This decision confirmed that bail is recognized as an independent preventive measure, ceasing to be an alternative to detention, and can therefore be applied not only in cases of risks of fleeing but also in cases of obstructing justice. The defense considered this as a newly emerged circumstance.
After the rejection of the motion, the defense appealed the court's decision.
