Ohanian on His Son Being Among Soldiers Transferred from Artsakh to Yerevan on March 1

My son has been a soldier for about 13-14 years. This statement was made by former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanian in an interview with Tert.am, addressing the media report that his son was among the soldiers brought from Artsakh to Yerevan on March 1.

Seyran Ohanian noted that his son, like the other soldiers, has been serving in different locations and is currently serving in the Artsakh Defense Army (ADA). He emphasized, “During that period, he fulfilled his duty to the homeland equally with the other soldiers; I have nothing more to add.”

It is worth mentioning that the newspaper “Zhamanak” reported that among the military personnel brought from Artsakh to Yerevan to participate in the events of March 1, 2008, was Seyran Ohanian's son, who at the time held the position of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and Deputy Minister of Defense. He served as an officer in the Defense Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

According to the newspaper, “Ohanian's son, along with other soldiers brought from Artsakh, was deployed in the government building and actively participated in the operations to suppress peaceful protests with bloodshed. Just a month and a half after the events of March 1, Ohanian was appointed Minister of Defense of Armenia.”
