We Discussed Exclusively Football Issues, There Were No Political Questions: Vanetsyan

I am not saying that I failed in any issue, we have done a lot of work on this matter,

said former President of the Football Federation of Armenia, Arthur Vanetsyan, in a conversation with reporters, who had earlier submitted his resignation from the position. Vanetsyan noted that a new executive committee and a new president will be elected.

“When I was elected president of the Football Federation, I indicated that I was not coming to this position for a long time, as I am engaged in other work; I have a different mission,” he said.

“Let’s not politicize this. We discussed exclusively football issues here. I submitted my resignation on my own initiative. Why? Because the situation that began after the match with Italy, following an unprecedented defeat, someone had to take that responsibility,” he stated.

According to Vanetsyan, he made a statement that was supported by his colleagues. He emphasized that a year has passed and in his assessment, his mission has been completed.

“I will not be running for the executive committee in the upcoming meeting, let alone as the president of the Football Federation. At this stage, I will not have any connection with football. Armenian football is as purified as possible and on the right track,” he concluded.
