Haroyan: I Can’t Imagine Working with Such a Coach, Khashmanyan Has Not Communicated with Us Since the Game

Defender of the Armenian national football team, Varazdat Haroyan, has spoken about the historic defeat to Italy and the head coach's comment afterwards that "this was not a national team, but just a team." In an interview with Sport24, Haroyan emphasized that the game against the Italians went poorly for the squad right from the start.

“When I looked at the scoreboard during the match, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. To this day, I still can’t find my place after that game,” said the footballer.

In Haroyan's opinion, Armenia should not have lost by such a score as it is a competitive team. “Imagine my feelings when after all this, Abraham Khashmanyan says at a press conference that this is not a national team, but an ordinary team. That statement irritates me even more. The head coach has no right to say such a thing,” the defender noted.

The Armenian player deemed the coach's remarks unacceptable. “I can’t imagine how to work with such a coach. Khashmanyan has not communicated with us since the game. I have spoken with other team members, and they all feel hurt by his statement,” he emphasized.

Haroyan insisted that every footballer playing for the national team has a special relationship with the squad. “The result recorded in the game against Italy is not justified, but there is also no justification for his words,” he said.
