‘Haykakan Jamanak’. Are They Trying to Silence ‘My Step’ MP Varazdat Karapetyan with Tax Inspections?
‘Haykakan Jamanak’ newspaper writes: We tried to clarify with ‘My Step’ MP Varazdat Karapetyan where his brother's criminal case stands. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the abuses committed by the former head of the Chkalovka community in Gegharkunik region, Ervand Karapetyan, 7-8 years ago. “I am not aware of the progress; I believe it is ongoing.”
“Can you clarify whether there are attempts to make you passive on certain issues like Amulsar, the Istanbul Convention?” “No.” Were there any non-political reasons for initiating the criminal case? “The case is in progress; I believe there are grounds to terminate it. The law enforcement agencies will decide.”
“Has any inspection started at the hotel belonging to you?” “First of all, the hotel belongs to my father, not to me, and I think the State Revenue Committee can conduct any inspections within its authority.” Have they not come yet? “It’s a normal process. They are checking everyone in Sevan, including the hotel owned by my father. I see no problem.”
