Former Prime Minister Comments on Teaching of Armenian Language and History in Universities

The former Prime Minister of Armenia, Armen Darbinyan, has made a statement on his Twitter account regarding the decision to make the Armenian language, Armenian literature, and Armenian history non-mandatory subjects in non-specialized faculties of universities.

He particularly noted, "It is certainly inappropriate to compare the Armenian language to English or our universities to Harvard. It is also inappropriate to express distrust towards our universities by the rebels. One thing is indisputable: national identity requires additional protection from the state, especially given the current demographic situation."
