Entry of Government Expert Banned in Armenia: A Threat to National Security

The entry of Andranik Hovhannisyan, an expert from the Government of Armenia's Public Relations and Information Center, has been banned due to threats posed by him to the national security of Armenia. This information was provided to Aysor.am by the press service of the National Security Service of Armenia.

According to the response from the NSS, "The individual you mentioned has been prohibited from entering the Republic of Armenia in accordance with subparagraph Z of paragraph 8 of the Law on Foreign Citizens of Armenia."

It is worth noting that according to the law, the issuance of a visa for entry into the Republic of Armenia (including extensions) can be denied, and a visa can be annulled or entry can be prohibited when "there are serious and substantiated threats posed by him to the state security or public order of the Republic of Armenia."

Earlier, Andranik Hovhannisyan had posted on Facebook that border guards at Zvartnots Airport had confiscated his residency permit and deported him to Russia.
