Embassy of Armenia Opens in Doha

During an official visit to the State of Qatar, President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian visited the Armenian Embassy in Doha. The embassy, established this year with the active support of the Emir of Qatar and the government, marks a significant milestone for Armenia-Qatar relations.

President Sarkissian was welcomed by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Armenia to Qatar, Gegham Garibjanyan, the spiritual leader of the Armenian community in Qatar, Father Poghos Tinkjyan, representatives of the Armenian community, and students from the Armenian 'Mesropyan' school.

Welcoming those present, President Sarkissian described the day as historic and awaited by everyone. “Qatar is a friendly country with a friendly people. For many years, we have all been waiting for the opening of the embassy. During my numerous visits, when I met many of you, there was always the question of when the Republic of Armenia would finally have its embassy in Qatar. Today, this is a reality, and I believe that especially your lives as the Armenian community in Qatar will significantly change from now on, as you will be more closely and directly connected to your homeland. The presence of your homeland will not only be in your hearts but also in your daily lives. I believe that Armenia and Qatar have much to accomplish together in political, economic, business relations, and cultural life. The embassy should be a bridge that connects you not only to your homeland but also strengthens the Armenia-Qatar relations. Therefore, I expect each of you to actively engage and participate in the development of Armenia-Qatar relations,” he stated.

In congratulating everyone on the occasion of the embassy's opening, President Sarkissian expressed special gratitude to Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the friendly people of Qatar for their support in opening the embassy. “The opening of the embassy would not have been possible without the goodwill and significant financial support of Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. I extend my gratitude to both the people of Qatar, the government, and the Emir. This is a special step of friendship, and each of us must appreciate it and do everything possible to strengthen and expand this friendship, the fraternal relations between our two peoples. So, welcome to the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia, welcome to your home,” emphasized the President.
