Serzh Sargsyan Must Speak: Andranik Kocharyan on Karen Karapetyan and Serzh Sargsyan

The former Prime Minister of Armenia, Karen Karapetyan, claimed in 2017 that the poor quality of fuel caused the Armenian military equipment to malfunction during the April War.

In response to a journalist's question about whether he intends to listen to Karapetyan, Andranik Kocharyan, the Chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security, stated, "During these months, we have been trying to find answers to these questions... So far, in this time, we have not heard of any instances where the arms at the positions were lacking. What we have heard, at this moment, is that we have not witnessed such shortcomings."

When asked if he believes it is necessary to listen to Karapetyan since the statement was made from the National Assembly podium, Kocharyan replied that there are many important individuals to hear before Karapetyan. He added, "We might listen to certain individuals so that there may not be a need to hear from K. Karapetyan... Has anyone documented the fact that there was a lack of weapons? Again, I reiterate: there is weaponry, they fired with ammunition; something has to continue the fight. I do not possess any recorded fact that they fought with shovels. I consider it normal that if ammunition has run out, he should fight with any means at hand, even if he has a shovel, he should strike someone with it."

Regarding whether the existing information is sufficient to draw a definite conclusion or if Serzh Sargsyan must also speak, he asserted, "Serzh Sargsyan must definitely speak."
