Former MP Alik Petrosyan Arrested

The Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Artak Tadevosyan, decided shortly after midnight to remand former National Assembly member Aleksan Petrosyan, known as "Mapi Alik," to custody for two months.

The request for his detention was submitted by the Special Investigative Service of Armenia. Aleksan Petrosyan is accused of aiding in money laundering.

Earlier, Hayots Jamanak reported that the charges relate to a case involving former Minister of Environment Aram Harutyunyan. The former MP from the Republican Party had previously been arrested, but that arrest was deemed unlawful, leading to his release.

His son was also detained but has since been released, though the circumstances surrounding his release remain unclear. The investigative body has not provided any comments regarding the connections between Alik Petrosyan, his son, and the case.
