This is the Russian we consider a friend: Turkish media on Lavrov's visit

The pro-government Turkish news outlet "Ensonhaber" has reported on Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's visit to Tsitsernakaberd.

The source recalled the 2016 incident when the Turkish Air Force shot down a Russian SU-24 bomber in Syria, which led to a crisis in Russian-Turkish relations. It later noted that these relations were strengthened through meetings between the presidents of Russia and Turkey; however, Lavrov's visit to Armenia could renew tensions.

The Turkish outlet expressed concern that Lavrov visited the memorial dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide and laid flowers on his knees. The pro-government media outlet posted a photo of Lavrov near the eternal flame, stating, "This is the Russian we consider a friend."

It was emphasized that Lavrov mentioned in a conversation with journalists after visiting the memorial that relations between Turkey and Armenia should be normalized. Furthermore, the relations between Armenia and Russia remain quite strong.

Finally, the article addressed the strategic relations between Armenia and Russia, noting that the Russian 102nd military base is located in Armenia, equipped with air defense systems and around 4,000 Russian soldiers.
