Man Who Poured Green Paint on Dancers Near Metro Reportedly Broke Into Night Shelter
“We do not know what the attempts to invade night shelters were aiming at. What the person was trying to capture or for what purpose is unclear to us,” said Sona Martirosyan, the press secretary of the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, in an interview with Armtimes.com regarding the recent attempts to invade three night shelters for filming purposes.
She recalled that representatives of the “Adequate” party had brought food and monetary assistance to a night shelter a day earlier, filming the process and handing it over to the children’s parents. According to the ministry’s decision, this footage was sent to law enforcement, requesting an examination of the legality of the process. Following this, a young man, identifying himself as a member of the “Adequate” party and a representative of a media outlet, attempted to enter night shelters to conduct filming.
In a statement, the “Adequate” party announced that this young man is not one of their members. “The face of this person is clearly visible in the video; you can see him (he is the one pouring green paint on the dancers). He tried to enter the No. 1 night shelter in Gyumri, but the director did not allow him. He went to another establishment, misusing the names of a certain party and media outlet, and managed to get inside. It was lunchtime, and the children were having their meals. He tried to film the children while eating; naturally, the director prohibited it as it infringes on the child's right to privacy,” Martirosyan explained.
According to her, the same individual also went to the night shelter in Byureghavan, where he also went live. “It is unclear what he wanted,” she added.
In response to a question regarding implications about the request to not expect anything in return for the assistance being provided and the ban on religious or political propaganda, Martirosyan noted, “In the first video, the citizen giving food and cash to the parent of the night shelter identifies himself as a member of the ‘Adequate’ party and claims to have taken action against ‘juvenile justice and such other anti-family initiatives.’ He states that he has come to listen and present the voices of the children in the night shelter. This discussion pertains to the dissolution of night shelters; they claim that the state has not listened to the opinions of the parents of children in the night shelters. They have gone to provide support to these families and are trying to amplify their voices.”
