The First Vehicle to be Cleared at Gyumri's New Customs Post on November 18

On November 18, the first vehicle will be cleared at the new customs post in Gyumri. This was mentioned by the Head of the State Revenues Committee, Davit Ananyan, during his recent visit to Gyumri. He assessed the progress of the works as satisfactory and stated that the entire customs clearance process will gradually transition to the newly built customs post by December.

This information was reported by Shantnews.am. The area, which covers more than 20 hectares of a former military base, will become a center for serving external economic activities. The construction of the customs post began with the first phase of the project. Extensive work is being carried out simultaneously in six different buildings. In the first building, which is the main section of the customs post, construction has been completed, and the builder has moved on to the interior work. More than 10 construction organizations and supply companies are involved, employing 250 workers.

The buildings are constructed with metal light structures, which the builders are using for the first time in Gyumri. According to the head of the construction organization, this construction material is imported from Georgia.

In the main section, the plan is to finalize the first customs formalities on November 18. Later, not just customs clearance, but also the entire process of vehicle servicing, registration, and customs formalities will be transferred here. Another five sections are currently under construction. Alongside construction, asphalt paving work is also ongoing in the area.

According to Davit Ananyan, the construction is now at a stage where all the functionalities of the customs post are already visible. Although the construction works have deviated slightly from the initial timelines, it is still expected that by the end of the year, all customs functions will be operational in Gyumri.

It should be noted that customs formalities for all vehicles imported through the Bagratashen, Gogavan, and Bavra customs posts have been carried out at the Northern customs post located in Gyumri for about a month. Starting November 18, customs clearance for vehicles imported into Armenia via trailers will also take place at the Northern customs post in Gyumri and the new customs post.

Davit Ananyan emphasizes that currently, over 500 vehicles are being cleared daily in Gyumri, and starting Monday, an additional 250-300 vehicles will be brought to Gyumri via trailers. Moreover, starting from November 25, the entire volume of vehicles transported in containers will also be cleared in Gyumri. It is projected that 1,100 vehicles will have their customs formalities completed daily in Gyumri.

According to the Head of the State Revenues Committee, before November 25, the documentation for 300 vehicles will be processed in the new section, and only then will they move on to serve the planned volume of 1,000 vehicles. Considering the volume of work, the simultaneous process will also continue at the Northern customs post. In today’s government session, the new address for customs formalities at the new customs post will receive formal approval.
