Most Tourists Visiting Armenia Are from Russia, Says Minister of Economy
During the first nine months of 2019, the number of tourists visiting Armenia has increased by 14.4 percent. This was announced today from the podium of the National Assembly by the Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan.
“The majority of tourists visiting Armenia are from Russia. Out of a total of 1.46 million people, 646,000 have arrived from Russia in the past nine months. This marks an increase of 1.3 percent compared to the previous year,” said Khachatryan.
According to official statistics, during the same period, the number of visitors from the USA has increased by 18.5 percent, from France by 21 percent, from Lebanon by 29 percent, from the Netherlands by 23 percent, from South Korea by 37.6 percent, from China by 41.7 percent, and from Japan by 18.1 percent.
The Minister of Economy stated that this indicates Armenia has sparked tourism interest in developed countries. He expressed hope that this trend will continue into 2020.
