We Have Not Received Vazgen Manukyan's Resignation Yet, Says Prime Minister's Spokesman
We have not received Vazgen Manukyan's resignation yet. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's spokesperson Vladimir Karapetyan in an interview with ArmDaily.am.
In response to the question about the reasons why Nikol Pashinyan had not been answering calls since July, as claimed by Vazgen Manukyan, and why there had been no meetings with members of the Public Council, Karapetyan replied, "Well, he presented it, now there is a new development, let's talk about the development, why should we go back and discuss what was said before. Now whether Mr. Manukyan's resignation has been received in the government or not, let's talk about that," said Karapetyan.
It is noteworthy that during the Public Council meeting convened on November 7, there was a discussion about whether the Public Council should continue its work or not. During the meeting, Vazgen Manukyan informed that during his last meeting with Pashinyan, they had agreed to hold regular meetings; however, since July, not only have such meetings not taken place, but Pashinyan has also not answered Manukyan's phone calls. "This was unprecedented; if previous officials did not answer calls for various reasons, they at least called back later. Pashinyan never called back," Manukyan stated.
We asked Karapetyan about the lack of desire to work with the Public Council. He responded that the Public Council is an advisory body. "The government expects advice, awaits these recommendations, and evaluates whether the recommendations are good or bad." To the observation that meetings used to take place for listening to and discussing the recommendations and that this had stopped at some point, Karapetyan answered that Pashinyan had held a meeting in April, and if you are referring to meetings with Serzh Sargsyan's government, I will refrain from commenting on the initiatives of that immoral government."
