Public: Price Increases in the Consumer Market - Vegetables Up 5.2%, Fruits Up 6.7%, Non-Alcoholic Beverages Up 1%
“Public” newspaper reports: In October, compared to September, price increases were recorded in the Armenian consumer market. The newspaper obtained information from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, indicating a 1% inflation rate for food products and non-alcoholic beverages across the country.
Vegetables saw a price increase of 5.2%, while fruits experienced a rise of 6.7%. The dairy market, including cheese and eggs, recorded an inflation rate of 0.5%. Specifically, the price of eggs increased by 0.9% in October compared to September.
Additionally, it was revealed that the inflation rate for bread, a primary food staple, amounted to 0.4%, whereas the meat market noted a deflation of 0.5%.
It is worth mentioning that this October, in comparison to September, a 0.2% increase was recorded for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, and a 0.3% rise for non-alcoholic drinks, coffee, tea, and cocoa. Notably, one of the reasons for the increase in tobacco prices is the rise in excise tax rates. Since July 1 of this year, in an effort to compensate for revenue losses due to the reduction of tax burdens in profit and income taxes, excise tax rates on tobacco and alcoholic products have been increased.
